Higher Education is Changing – Part 2

Do the words “Free Higher Education” feel like a paradox? Well perhaps in a few years it won’t seem so ironic. MITx has officially announced their first free open learning course, which if you pass, you can earn an actual certificate from MITx.  

Students taking the first course, “Circuits and Electronics”, will watch a series of 5- to 10-minute video tutorials, read an e-textbook, and complete homework assignments, virtual labs, and 2 exams (which will be graded by computer).

As I stated in my previous post, higher education must adapt as we move into the future; things are just getting too expensive to maintain the status quo.  It  will be interesting to watch how different disciplines will adapt.

Be sure to let me know if you can point to examples of how Higher Biblical education is moving in new directions.
