Erik Qualman tells us in his book Digital Leadership that: “multitasking is junkfood for your brain.” What happens though, when a generation of men have been raised on digital junkfood? The following Ted Talk by Philip Simbardo provides a sobering answer:
In case you didn’t catch it, arousal addiction is rewiring our boy’s brains to crave constant arousal. Zimbardo summed it up this way: “Its a new kind of arousal; boys brains are being digitally rewired in a totally new way for change, novelty, excitement, and constant arousal.”
There is a short book that goes along with this video which is designed to provide the research behind the presentation and recommendations to help turn the tide. If anyone would be interested in reading it with me, just leave a note in the comments.

Hey John, great post. I’m interested in reading that short book that you mentioned… It would probably shed more light over this issue. Thanks!
